Congratulations to all the Chinese people, athletes and organisers on such a spectacular Olympic Games! The opening ceremony was an amazing display of Chinese history and culture, and the Chinese competitors came top of the gold medals league table for the first time ever. There were far fewer problems than I had feared from air pollution and from drugs testing failures. This proves that superior organisation and effort from a society which actually believes in the meaning of collective achievements is much better able to apply the science of reducing smog and pollution. In the decadent West, the frantic scramble for "profit" would have prevented such priorities from being achieved. I have always been a fan of the Olympic ideal, and Beijing 2008 was by far the best show yet!
